Even though originally discovered by someone with the same first name as me, has anyone given thought to the possibly impact of Benford’s law when it comes to interpreting/analyzing the random numbers we all use and love so much? Basically it goes more random numbers start with 1, the least with 9. This might not be the case with true RNGs though. I don’t know.
I would say Benford’s law is more of an artifact of how numbers are analyzed and presented – there doesn’t seem to be anything fundamental about it in real, physical terms. It does NOT apply to individual digits generated randomly, or to binary bits from a random generator.
